THINGS TO DO
BEACHES & PICNICS
There are two bodies of water surrounding Mustique, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The main beach is Macaroni Bay – this is the beach that you can see from Jasmine Cottage and has lovely waves and a grass area to picnic in. The other is Lagoon Beach which is on the quieter Caribbean Sea. It’s perfect for very small children and again has the perfect picnic area just in front of the lagoon. There is a path from this beach to secluded Geliceaux Bay which you can only reach by foot following the rocky path to the left. There are many other beaches on the island, not all of them suitable for swimming - look at the map.
Picnics are possible on any of the beaches. The best is Lagoon Beach where there is a barbeque which you can use.
If you picnic on macaroni beach You can also grab a game of beach Volleyball there is a net setup just of the beach.
Dwayne will be happy to book this and arrange for the staff to get things ready on the beach.
There are several good courts and tennis coaching available. Courts are free but you should call the Mustique Company to make a reservation (extension 8378).
This is a great way to see the island. The stables are next to the tennis courts.
SCUBA DIVING & SNORKELLING
There is a diving school where you can arrange to do a course or be taken on a dive. This is near the hotel.
There is good snorkelling to the right of the jetty at Cotton House Beach and other beaches on the island.
There is a spa for massages, manicures, pedicures and more - they get very busy so do book early. This is next to the Cotton House Beach Café opposite the hotel. There is also a gym available in the spa basement. There is also a massage table at the house
just ask Dwayne and he will be happy to book a in house massage.
THE COTTON HOUSE
Every Tuesday night the Mustique Company hosts a cocktail party at the Cotton House Hotel, which is a good opportunity to meet other people on the island. As a guest on the island you are automatically invited. Dress is casual. On Wednesdays, Basil’s Bar offers a “Jump Up Night” which can be fun.
There is a film on a Saturday evening outside the Spa on the lawn. This is great for children too. Ask the Mustique Company what will be playing and when. There is also a media room at the house with a selection of DVDs. Further DVDs are available at the library.
There is a walk from Obsidian Bay to Pasture Bay which can be difficult to follow but is well worth the effort. Stick with the coast and you shouldn’t go too far wrong, time approx. 1½ hours. The walk the other way from Macaroni to Pasture is also a must – it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes but probably best to wear sandals even though you can do it barefoot. Reggie is also quite happy to go on walks as well.
So if you would like to take him with you just let Dwayne know.
Highly recommended is a day trip to Tobago Cays or Bequia.
Activities can be arranged by calling the appropriate extension in the telephone directory. More adventurous excursions can also be arranged by the Activity Group (extension 8378) at the Mustique Company.
